My Vest Friends

What is a Vest Friend?

Two or more people wearing life jackets and sharing a photo or video of themselves on social media to promote life jacket wear.

Why was the Vest Friend campaign created?

Wearing life jackets is important. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, over 500 people die from drowning related to recreational boating each year and over 80% of those people were not wearing a life jacket. To help encourage boaters and water enthusiasts to wear life jackets, the Sea Tow Foundation launched the Vest Friends campaign. For more information, check out the Vest Friends Press Release.

Who can participate?

Anyone with a social media account can participate. There is no age requirement and no restrictions. Put on a life jacket, grab a friend with a life jacket, and take a selfie!

Where can you post your Vest Friends photos?

Post to your own social media pages and to ours- remember to include hashtag #vestfriends

What will happen to my Vest Friends photo?

Photos will be collected from social media and shared here. A contest may be run from time to time to pick a winner as various prizes become available. When a contest is open, details will be posted on all Social Media accounts and on this website.
